Use case: central data platform with SAP S/4 integration.
A technology group requested our support to centralize its data processes and achieve better flexibility and cost efficiency. The primary requirements for the new data infrastructure: integration of SAP S/4 via CDC and other sources like Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SQL Server and APIs. After analyzing the current situation and goals, we developed a strategy and the necessary architecture together. Then we advised the company on choosing the right tools. Snowflake was used as the heart of data processing. The Azure Cloud Platform served as the basis. The group chose Azure Data Factory and Coalesce for data integration. Our approach: Think big, start small. In just a few weeks, we established Snowflake as the data platform and adapted processes for development, testing and production.
We supported our customers in developing a CI/CD pipeline and modeled a data vault 2.0. We developed data models based on CRM and SAP data, so teams could work with new CRM reports in just a few days. Just two weeks after the first proof of concept, the group was able to use the new systems and processes productively. Now, the company is successively expanding the use of Snowflake: additional use cases are being included and old BI systems are being ported to Snowflake one at a time. The project work required to do so was minimal: the effort to operate Snowflake is close to zero, and only transferring business requirements and data modeling resulted in notable work requirements.
